Xiaomi has a new model that is now joining the field of media streaming, the TV Stick 4K, which looks quite similar to last year’s model only this time it comes with a new name and more powerful hardware.

In fact, the Xiaomi TV Stick 4K is exactly the same in appearance as the original Mi TV Stick. This is a small dongle that connects directly to the HDMI connection on the TV screen, as well as a microUSB connection to electricity when it comes with a remote control in Bluetooth connectivity with a dedicated button for Google’s assistant (Google) and the service Netflix (Netflix) and Amazon Prime. You can of course watch a variety of additional services directly through it, install apps from the official Android store and stream content to it from the phone or devices using the built-in Chromecast.

What has changed after all? It first comes with the latest version 11 Google TV operating system available. In addition it also brings support for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision which were missing from the previous model. Beyond that it officially also supports 4K video streaming, which its predecessor only supported in 1080p.

The hardware has also been upgraded and the Xiaomi TV Stick 4K is based on the Amlogic S905Y4 processor and 2GB of working memory (compared to 1GB) alongside 8GB of storage memory. It still lacks a standard USB so it is not possible to connect external devices (only via Bluetooth).
