Xiaomi is expected to announce its new flagship series, the Xiaomi 12, this month, and according to the latest reports, at least one of the models in the series will come with a camera installed under the screen. Such a camera of course saves the need for a notch or drill chicks from the display surface. It may not be the first device with such a camera, but it is still a relatively rare feature on the market – certainly in flagship devices where the expectation is for excellent photo quality.
Xiaomi therefore, believes that it has succeeded in developing the technology to such a level that it can be used in an advanced and relatively expensive device. Reports indicate that the candidate to get the hidden camera is actually the middle device in the series, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and not the Ultra model.
Apart from the hidden camera, this device in the Xiaomi 12 family is also expected to come with a hidden speaker, similar to the one the company has already introduced in the Mi Mix. It should also come with Qualcomm’s latest chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, an AMOLED screen with a fast refresh rate, and a main camera with a resolution of 50 megapixels.
The Ultra model will come with an even more advanced camera with a resolution of 108 megapixels, but as mentioned not with a selfie camera hidden under the screen. All devices in the series will be equipped with the new MIUI 13 interface.
